Abstract

Indo-European Languages, despite the differences that have emerged through centuries of evolution, preserve many common features in their grammatical structures. Latin is known as a synthetic-analytical language in which the tendency to express new grammatical meanings has remained strong, thanks to preservation and expressive capacity of its grammatical forms. As a result, a rich diversity of grammatical forms has been both preserved and further developed. The verb in Latin is a variable part of speech and possesses the grammatical category of tense. Perfectum is one of the six Latin verb tenses included in the perfectum tense system. It is also an inherited form from an early Indo-European stage, known as synthetic perfect. This paper aims to summarize the different forms of Latin perfect and their formation in the passive voice. In order to achieve this, both regular and irregular verbs have been analyzed.
