Abstract
Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in large language models, have challenged several traditional notions in translation studies. This article examines the impact of AI on the reshaping of classical and functionalist theories of translation, with particular attention to how concepts such as equivalence, fidelity, and functionality are being redefined in the age of machine translation. Drawing on contemporary theoretical debates and real-world practices, it argues that AI should not be viewed merely as a technical tool, but as an epistemological agent that transforms the very concpetion of translation. By analyzing the collaborative dynamics between FGJH 6 11 / 2025 human translators and AI systems, the study underscores the need for a hybrid paradigm in which human creativity and machine efficiency coexist. This reconfiguration not only reopens debates on authorship, responsibility, and ethics in translation but also sheds light on emerging perspectives regarding the future role of translators in an increasingly technologically mediated world.
