Abstract
The study of Latin is of great importance for students in the field of philology. One of the most common questions new students ask upon entering our faculty is: Why study Latin today? Based on 20 years of experience in teaching this language, we can affirm that learning Latin follows a process similar to that of other languages, with its own characteristics. However, consistent work is essential for mastering it, and a solid understanding of the grammatical system of one’s native language is also crucial. By learning Latin, students are naturally encouraged to make comparative analyses not only with Albanian, but also with other languages such as Italian, French, English, etc. Research has shown that studying Latin enhances students’ logical thinking and reasoning skills, which in turn benefits their performance in other subjects. Classical Latin has long been, and continues to be, an indispensable key to unlocking the treasures of literature, philosophy, law, science, mathematics, physics, chemistry and other natural sciences that humanity has developed over the centuries.
